What is wildlife photography?
The once clear line between wild and captive is becoming irrelevant. Wildlife, both ‘in the wild’ and in zoos and game parks is increasingly managed and cared for. Consequently, the distinction between ‘genuine’ wildlife photography – images of animals out on the African savanna – and photos of the same species taken on a game ranch or in a zoo is becoming less meaningful. Without additional information on the context of wildlife photos, it is often impossible to tell the difference. The focus then shifts to the aesthetics of the image and the personality of the animal.
